Preston W. Thomas Senior Tournament

PRESTON W THOMAS
1914 - 1982

Preston W Thomas, an ABC director and past president of the National Bowling Association, was a co-founder of the New Jersey Senior Men's Tournament in 1981.

From 1976 through 1981, he and ABC Past President Wes Bogle headed a contingent of New Jersey bowlers to compete in the ABC National Senior Tournament held annually in Milwaukee, Wis.

In 1978 Thomas and Vince Lucci, an ABC Hall of Famer, Won The Actual and the Handicap Doubles championships in the ABC Senior Tournament.

When the American Bowling Congress announced that starting in 1982 the National Senior Tournament would be held on the ABC Tournament lanes immediately after the ABC Masters Tournament, Thomas and Bogle founded the State Senior Men's Tournament for the New Jersey State Bowling Association to Qualify four bowler's annually for the national event.

When Preston Thomas died, the N.J. State Bowling Association voted to honor his memory by naming the tournament the Preston W .Thomas Memorial New Jersey Senior Bowling Tournament.
